Las imágenes ganadoras de la edición número 13 de la competencia Fotógrafo de Astronomía del año fueron anunciadas durante una ceremonia online organizada por el Observatorio Real de Greenwich.Astronomy Photographer of the Year es el concurso de astrofotografía más grande del mundo y cada año recibe miles de entradas de astrofotógrafos de todo el mundo. Este año se enviaron 4.500 imágenes de participantes de 75 países.Las imágenes son vistas y analizadas por el panel de jueces, quienes seleccionan el ganador, el subcampeón y las entradas más elogiadas en cada categoría, junto con la imagen vencedora de toda la competencia.La imagen ganadora en 2021 es una captura del eclipse solar anular del 21 de junio de 2020, que muestra a la Luna bloqueando la mayor parte del disco solar, y dejando solo un delgado anillo de luz solar brillando. La imagen, titulada The Golden Ring, fue la imagen principal en la categoría Nuestro Sol, y también se llevó el primer lugar como ganadora de toda la competencia.
